Position Summary

We are seeking a talented, creative, and detail-oriented Experienced Cake Decorator to join our bakery team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking and cake artistry, strong decorating skills, and the ability to create beautiful, high-quality cakes for birthdays, weddings, special events, and other celebrations.

The successful candidate must be dependable, organized, customer-focused, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality, cleanliness, and food safety.

Key Responsibilities

Decorate cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other bakery products according to customer requests and established designs.
Create custom cake designs, including buttercream flowers, piping, fondant work, writing, borders, and specialty decorations.
Prepare and finish cakes for birthdays, weddings, holidays, anniversaries, and other special occasions.
Consult with customers to understand their design preferences, themes, colors, flavors, and special requests.
Ensure all cakes meet quality standards for appearance, taste, consistency, and presentation.
Prepare icings, buttercream, fillings, and decorating materials as needed.
Maintain an organized, clean, and sanitary decorating station in compliance with food safety guidelines.
Properly handle, store, label, and rotate bakery products and ingredients.
Monitor inventory of decorating supplies and communicate supply needs to management.
Complete customer orders accurately and on schedule.
Work collaboratively with bakers, bakery associates, and management to meet daily production goals.
Assist with seasonal displays, promotional items, and new cake designs.
Follow company policies, sanitation procedures, and health regulations.

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum of 2–3 years of professional cake decorating experience preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in buttercream decorating, piping techniques, cake writing, and decorative finishes.
Experience with fondant, tiered cakes, custom designs, and specialty occasion cakes preferred.
Strong artistic ability, creativity, and attention to detail.
Ability to read and follow cake orders, design specifications, and customer instructions.
Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, and food safety practices.
Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift bakery supplies as required.

Preferred Skills

Experience creating wedding cakes and multi-tiered cakes.
Knowledge of current cake decorating trends and techniques.
Ability to sketch or interpret custom cake designs.
Experience using decorating tools, airbrush equipment, edible images, and fondant tools.
Ability to manage multiple orders while meeting deadlines.
Experience working in a retail bakery, grocery store bakery, or specialty cake shop.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional bakery environment with exposure to refrigeration, varying temperatures, and standard bakery equipment. The role requires standing for extended periods, repetitive hand movements, and working efficiently during busy seasons, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
